"Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade 2014 Each October 31 since 1957, the Leesburg Kiwanis have sponsored the Halloween Parade down King Street in Leesburg. The 2014 parade promises to be a big Friday evening hit! Police, and fire and rescue units, high school marching bands, floats, horseback riders, walking units, decorated vehicles, politicians, and others will once again pass out candy as they parade down the 1-mile route on King Street from Ida Lee Park to Safeway and the Virginia Village Shopping Center. Last year these units, and many viewers, donated food and money to Loudoun InterFaith Relief; we hope your generosity will be even greater this year.Grand marshal this year will be the Loudoun County chapter of the American Red Cross in recognition of its many disaster, education, safety, and blood services to the community.Groups that want to participate should download a registration form now, complete it, and return it to us by October 29th. Complete details are in a downloadable trifold. Everyone must in Ida Lee Park Field before 5:30 PM sharp when the police close King Street from Battlefield Parkway North to Catoctin Circle South. Participants may leave their cars at the field but won't be able to get out until the police reopen King Street to the north after it is safe to do so.
Viewers should be in place along King St. by 6 PM when the parade starts. To avoid the crowd view from south of Loudoun Street--the candy doesn't run out by then. For parking options check out the Town of Leesburg website. And please take a non-perishable food item to donate in collection boxes at major intersections along King Street. Loudoun Interfaith Relief thanks you.Oh, did we say the parade is BIG! In 2006, Town of Leesburg Chief of Police estimated the crowd at about 15,000, and attendance is like that every year. For more information contact us or call Suzanne at 703-737-2175.See you at the parade on King Street on Halloween for one of Leesburg's most popular and enjoyable traditions. The Kiwanis Club of Leesburg Virginia"
