Buying your first home is not as difficult as you may  think.   There are many FHA  and or VHDA programs giving first time home buyers up to $7500 in down payment assistance.    This is often money that you do not have to pay back.   I have recently worked with several clients that have almost paid nothing out of pocket and their mortgage is equal to or less then their rent.    However, many of these grants are first come first serve.  It's best to check now before money runs out for these special programs.
